Many marginalized communities communities still face severe challenges in meeting their daily water needs. Drying up of water sources, pollution of water bodies, lack of purification methods and travelling long distances to carry water are common scenarios in many developing regions. In many cases, the burden of fetching water falls on women and children.
We aim to alleviate the root causes of water shortages by providing technical expertise, funds and institutions to develop sustainable solutions, including:
- Access to safe drinking water using low cost purification methods and metered water connection for each home
- Protection of rivers, lakes and other water sources
- Sustainable extraction of water, such as through community hand pumps and bore wells
- Water distribution infrastructure to communities and homes
- Rainwater harvesting systems
- Wastewater recovery with dug well for groundwater recharge
- Water education for elders, children and community
