UNTEC is the Foundation for Technology Transfer of the University of Chile, a research-intensive institution and the premier university in Chile. Its function is to promote activities that lead to the better use of technology in economic, social and cultural development, and to apply discoveries and inventions by researchers from different faculties at the University.

UNTEC holds the patent for “Toha® System”, the technology behind ECOSOFTT’s Aerobic Biofilter Without Sludge (ABWS), a highly efficient, eco-friendly and economical wastewater treatment system. “Toha® System” is invented by Professor José Tohá Castellá at the Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Sciences. With a highly qualified team of engineers, UNTEC is credited with the successful adoption of the “Toha® System” in over 400 applications in Chile and internationally.
